Meet Joey

I am finally posting pictures of our new son. He is almost a month old already but that is ok. Joey was born on May 29 at 8:34 am. He weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and 21 in long. It was a tough delivery for both him and me. I had pushed for 2 1/2 hours and he did not want to come out. He was facing up and not down like he was suppose to so they had to use the forceps to help get him out. It all went wrong the last 15 minutes before he came out. His heart rate dropped and the doc new we had to get him out soon. He does not tell us anything of course, but all of a sudden there are 10 people in my room. I was able to get him out on the first contraction with help of the forceps. He came out not breathing and a really low heart rate. The doc cut the cord and brought him over to the cart where they did CPR on him right away. In the mean time I have no idea what is going on. All I know is that Joey was not crying and Pete had a worried look on him face. Not a good sign. They got his heart rate up right away and got him somewhat stable. He never did cry before he left the room. Pete was able to see him for a few minutes and they showed him to be for 2 seconds before they brought him to the nicu where he spent the next 5 days. What had happened was since he was not breathing when he came out the his oxygen went to more needed places like heart and head and neglected his kidney, liver, and digestive system. So they had to monitor that very closely. His kidneys took a while to start working and his liver count was a little high but everything was looking good after a few days. Then since he was getting fed through an IV he had to have 3 good days of eating before he came home. So all in all he was in the nicu for 5 days. We thank God as he watched over him and that all is well. They feel there is no long term damage and that he should be a healthy guy. This is how he looked the first day. It was hard seeing your baby hooked up to all this stuff. They say it looks worse than what it is.

I would cry too if I had iv's in my hands when I was only a few minutes old.
PJ rode with me to go see Joey. He did not get to meet his brother til he came home. No kids in the nicu.Pete found this shirt in the gift shop. It was a little big for him but that was the smallest they had. Finally coming home. Dad with his two sons.

More to come

For all of you who I do not have your email, yes we did have our baby. It has been a crazy few weeks but he has arrived. I will post more this week and add pictures. I am in Michigan this week cause we are closing on our house this Friday. We are so blessed to have sold our house and we actually know the people who bought it somewhat. Well their kids went to South and some of our friends know them. So we actually know of them. Anyways they are excited about it and we are thankful that they bought it cause we know it is in good hands.
But for know I need to take a nap while both kids are sleeping.
By the way, our new baby is Joseph David and he was 7 lbs 6 oz 21 in.
